Science: This Is How Our Eyes Differ From Animal Eyes

The eye is a photographer’s greatest tool, but many of us know relatively little about how it actually works. It turns out there’s a whole variety of different types of eyes out there in the animal kingdom, ranging from super-simple light receptors (found in worms and other simpler animals) up to our complicated eye structure.

The video doesn’t have a huge amount of scientific info, but it is a nice jumping off point for a vision science rabbit hole if you get curious about the subject.

While we’re very lucky to be able to interpret things like sharp details and bright colors, there are also other animals out there with the ability to “see” parts of the spectrum that are foreign to us.

And, if nothing else, there are a lot of cool close-up shots of different animal eyes. That shrimp sure is one wacky looking animal.
